Why I Love The Fair Poem
Date Posted: 8/11/2010

When the VC Fair rolls into town
For the next 11 days I will not frown
All I want to do is eat
And maybe have worms sucked out of my feet

Carmel apples, roasted corn, cotton candy and spiral fries
Sometimes my stomach is not as large as my eyes
The Agriculture Building is my favorite place
I run to Smokey the Bear for a loving embrace

Oh gee, I hope I win just one ribbon this year!
If not, I will just drown my sorrows in Strawberry beer
The sounds coming from Leo’s barnyard are loud and strong
They almost drown out the bubbles coming from the carnie bongs

In the grandstand arena the concerts are always free
I will dance with a drunken cowboy and hope he does not spit dip on me
Mr. Slave two-steps in his leather pants and hat
He reached over and gave that Wrangler butt a pat

Amazing things you can always see
Turkey stampedes, the hypnotist and someone selling Sham-Wowzee
We head to the Lion’s Club tent for a second-hand smoke
If we yell “BINGO!” first, they might have a stroke

The Fair comes to an end with the P.R.C.A. Rodeo show
The skinny rodeo queen enters, look at her, what a ho!
The ocean breeze blows as the Fair days finish up
Just one more cinnamon roll please, I promise I won’t throw up!
