About the Department If you can make it…you can enter it! The sky is the limit. Bring your paintings, crayon drawings, sewn or quilted items, crafts, photography, wood projects, etc. to the Youth Expo and join the fair family. Use your imagination. It’s fun to see your items displayed when you visit the fair.

What's Happening
Volunteer Opportunities Before the Fair opens – join us for fun and friendship as we clean, take in entries, judge and display everything that has been entered. Any time you can spare is welcomed. Opportunities are available from July 19 – August 2. Opportunities are available for runners, clerks, and judges. During the Fair – We can always use help hosting in the building. Shifts are 4 hours throughout the duration of the fair.
Glue A Shoe Contest Wednesday, August 3 & Wednesday, August 10. Entries due between 11:00 and 1:00 ... Youth ages 5-18, decorate a shoe, boot, flip-flop slipper or other footwear with buttons, beds, sequins, feathers and ??? ...winners announced at 3:00
FARM DERBY COMPETITION NEW CONTEST for 2011 FAIR
Presented by Time Warner Cable and "Connect a Million Minds"
Design and build a functioning, non-motorized farm vehicle to transport “produce” (1 lemon) from the farmer’s “orchard to the packing plant.” The winning vehicle in each age division is the one that can safely transport its produce the furthest distance from the top of the orchard (wooden ramp), down a hill and across the farm field (stage) to reach the packing plant at the far end of farm.

Peggy Kroener Hi, my name is Peggy Kroener. I have been the Superintendent of the Youth Expo since 1995. I hope you will enjoy your visit to the Ventura County Fair. Be sure to stop by, you will be amazed. I have an amazing staff that works to put together the Youth Expo. Pam Doss and Scott Groenveld are Assistant Superintendents. The three of us as well as the department chairs for each age group are ready and eager to answer your questions and smooth the entry process! Come pay us a visit.
