About the Department
If you are a Ventura County professional artist, you have come to the right place. A gallery of the best and newest artwork in the county will be showcased at the fair in the Adah Callahan Art Center.
Drawings, Paintings, Sculpture, Ceramics, Wood Pieces and more compete for cash prizes and awards including the coveted Adah Callahan Award, Director’s Award and Best in Show.
The show is juried before the Fair begins, and if your work is selected it will hang in the Gallery throughout the 12 days of the Fair. The Ventura County Fair welcomes over 300,000 guests, many of whom will see your work in the Pro Arts Gallery.

We have beautiful artwork from around the county displayed each year. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Several artists volunteer to demonstrate their artistic talent on the lawn outside our building during fair-time. You can watch them create works of art and they always welcome your questions.
Each year we have new outdoor sculptures on the lawn, as well as some previously seen favorites. Make sure to check them out after you've visited Photography and Home Arts!
Many people have questions about the "People's Choice Award". Our "People's Choice Award" is voted for by the fair guests. Visitors get to vote for their favorite piece of art and the winner is revealed the second Thursday of the fair.
Our "Entry Day" and "Pick-Up" day volunteers are invaluable! They really make the process easy and efficient. During fair-time we have many volunteer "Hosts" and "Hostesses". The building couldn't be open without them watching and overseeing the artwork and answering our visitors questions. We have artists who volunteer their time to help set up the building, Our volunteers are the core of our department.

HOW TO ENTER All Artwork must be PRE-ENTERED prior to artwork receiving dates.
ENTRY FORMS ACCEPTED: June 1, 2012 through July 15, 2012 only. Entry forms may be mailed or hand delivered to the Fairgrounds Administration Office at 10 W. Harbor Blvd., Ventura, CA 93001. Please do not bring artwork at this time. Entry forms can be found on the Fair’s website: www.venturacountyfair.org and at the Fairground’s Administrative Office.
ENTRY FEE (non-refundable): $20.00 per entry Limit 4 entries per exhibitor in Divisions 725, 726, 727 and 728, no more than 2 entries per class. Entry Fee must accompany entry form.

WHEN TO BRING ARTWORK TO FAIR: Friday, July 20, Saturday, July 21, & Sunday, July 22, 2012 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
WHEN TO PICK-UP ARTWORK Entries not selected for show MUST be picked up Tuesday, July 24, 2012 between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Accepted articles must remain until the close of exhibition.
Entries selected for show in the Professional Arts Department MUST be claimed on Monday, August 13, 2012 between 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Entries not claimed at this time become the property of the Fair and will be discarded.

Superintendent
Shannon Callahan Patrick
Shannon Patrick, the Superintendent of the Professional Arts department.
Shannon was Co-Superintendent with her Dad, Mickey, for two years, and she's been Superintendent ever since. Wow, time goes by so fast!
Shannon's assistant, Cheryl Hardy has been volunteering and working in the department since Shannon and Mickey were Co-Superintendents. Cheryl has always been a great help and an asset to the Pro Arts Department. The entire Pro-Arts staff is fantastic!
Shannon is the granddaughter of Adah Callahan, who started the Professional Art department in 1969 and for whom the Professional Arts building is named. Shannon started volunteering many years ago with her Aunt Marcia when she was the Pro Arts Superintendent.
Shannon enjoys the Outdoor Garden exhibits in Floriculture, it has always been her favorite place to visit at the fair. "I like to see the different varieties of plants, flowers and landscaping styles and I imagine what I would like to do someday in my 'dream garden'." she says.
Shannon loves to hang out with her husband and kids - "no matter what they're doing." Some of her hobbies include snow skiing, working in the garden, and riding her horse "Jackjack". Shannon enjoys anything outdoors!
